Western Digital Raptor WD800ADFS
Released January, 2011
The Pros:Extremely fast speeds, ideal for gaming purposes or file servers. Reliable operation with a long warranty. Easy to set up, just plugs in and works like a normal HDD.
The Cons:Consumes a lot more power than usual for a hard drive. Costs much more than comparable hard drives of this capacity. Doesn't hold much, limited to just a few applications at a time.
The Digital Raptor WD800 ADFS is an out of production 80 GB hard drive from Western Digital. Although older and lower capacity then some new drives this unit still delivers a punch. The unit delivers high performance thanks to the SATA 300 interface which delivers transfer rates of 3.0Gb/s.

At 10,000 RPM and a 16 Mb cache buffer the drive is fast even by current standards. These features mean that the drive is still good as a redundant or secondary drive. This drive is perfect for those that would like to run two operating systems but don't want to dedicated to much space to the alternative one. Though smaller the performance from this drive is comparable to current higher capacity units.
