Sony BDX-S500U

$240.00 Released September, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Writes BD-R (write once) and BD-RE (re-write) discs. Slim & compact, great for road warriors. Up to 6x Blu-ray burning speeds.

The Cons:Quite expensive at $240. USB 2.0 can often be a bottleneck, should have USB 3.0 instead. Cannot run off USB power - always needs extra AC adapter.

The Sony BDX-S500U is a compact, slim external Bly-Ray BD-R/BD-RE and DVD burner with USB 2.0 interface. It is an ideal companion for a laptop, netbook, or tablet PC that has no integrated optical drive (Apple does not support BluRay).
