It meets the Class 6 speed rating, indicating a sustained write speed of at least 6 MB/s, but SandDisk maintains that it can write at speeds of 20MB/s. Somewhat counter-intuitively, the Extreme III is an older model from 2007 that has been replaced by the SanDisk Extreme model, which is faster overall.
