It is a 2.5”, 100GB SSD drive designed specifically for high-performance servers that handle video-on-demand, internet data centers, and online transaction processing. It relies on single-layer cell NAND flash memory, interleaving NAND flash chips, and multiple parallel channels to increase internal throughput and performance. In fact, Samsung claims that the SS805 can process as much as 100x the # of IOPS per watt as a conventional 2.5” SAS drive. Additonal notable features include a 230MB/s sequential data read speed, 180MB/s sequential write speed, and a power consumption of only 1.9W in active mode.
