The Pros:Good performance - burst read speed of approx. 150mb/sec. Good customer support from the manufacturer - fast RMA process for defective drives. Very quiet - good for use in low-noise PCs without sacrificing performance.
The Cons:Hard to find - has been replaced by newer models.
The Spinpoint F1 line is a line of mid-priced internal hard disk drives from Samsung. The models in the F1 line differ in capacity, buffer memory and drive ready time. Feature-wise, the Spinpoint series is much like Samsung's EcoGreen series of internal hard disk drives, but with a faster drive speed (7200 RPM), and without EcoGreen's EcoTriangleTM guarantee of eco-friendly parts.

However, the Spinpoint series is still RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) and S.M.A.R.T. compliant, which makes it environmentally friendly to some degree. Samsung's Noiseguard and SilentSeek technologies ensure a low-noise performance. Like Samsung's EcoGreens, the Spinpoint F1 series is being promoted as a series with improved performance, due to its dual-ARM based firmware and SATA native command queuing feature, which optimizes the order in which commands are executed. There are 334 GB of formatted capacity per disk in the Spinpoint F1 series.
