The Samsung SE-S084D is an external DVD drive, promoted as the world's thinnest. The device, promising a standard 8x DVD write speed, is 17mm thick. Released in June 2010, the SE-S084D is available in seven colors corresponding to Samsung's current netbook models (which lack optical drives).

The drive is also notably lightweight at half a pound. It transfers data and is powered by USB, and uses Buffer Under Run technology to reduce writing errors.
