OKGEAR OK250AU2S-K
$24.00
Released February, 2008
The Pros:Solid aluminum construction. Elegant design. No internal fan(s).
The Cons:Can't operate PATA drives with eSATA connector.
The OKGEAR OK250AU2S-K is a unique external 2.5" hard drive enclosure as it features two types of internal interfaces: PATA and SATA 3.0Gbit/s. It can therefore be used very flexibly with older and newer hard drives alike (IT departments would love it).

It also comes with two external interfaces: USB 2.0 and eSATA, therefore satisfying needs for ubiquitous connectivity (USB) and extreme high-speed (eSATA). It is, however, not possible to operate a PATA drive in eSATA mode; the interface electronics have not been designed to handle such a protocol translation. The enclosure is a solid aluminum structure in elegant black and silver colors with a blue activity LED showing the OKGEAR logo. Heat dissipates effectively out of the enclosure, therefore not needing a noisy internal fan.
