Product Shot 1The OCZ Z-Drive R3 is one of three speed solid-state drives (Vertex 3 EX, Vertex 3 Pro, Vertex R3) released together in early 2011. Unlike the other two SSDs, which rely on a SATA III interface, the Z-Drive R3 connects via PCI-Express, making it the first of its kind from OCZ.

In particular, it has been engineered for Tier-0/1 data applications, so in turn it offers ultra-high transfer speeds up to 1 GB/sec and 135,000 IPOS. It’s essentially geared for the enterprise market. Plus it can be purchased in sizes up to 1.2TB, though there is a version known as the IBIS “XL” with up to 4GB of capacity.
