Product Shot 1The OCZ Vertex 3 EX is one of three speed solid-state drives (Vertex 3 EX, Vertex 3 Pro, Vertex R3) released together in early 2011. As the weakest in the trio, the Vertex 3 EX relies on a SATA 6Gbps interface and a Sandforce SF2582 controller to allow it to read sequential read & write speeds up to 550MB/sec and 525MB/sec, respectively.

In fact, it supports an 80,000 IOPS. Unlike its immediate counterpart, the Pro, the EX relies on SLC NAND based flash memory versus MLC NAND. Otherwise practically the same, the OCZ Vertex 3 EX is also available in capacities of 50GB, 100GB, 200GB, and 400GB.
