OCZ Technology Synapse Cache Series

The Synapse Cache Series is a line of solid state hard drives from the OCZ Technology company. Available in 64 and 128-gigabyte denominations, these models are designed specifically for application caching to work in conjunction with a computer's standard hard disc drive.

Using the included Dataplex software component, users can simultaneously monitor the to status of both drives to optimize performance through placement of CPU-intensive and non-CPU-intensive files in the proper location. Built around the SATA III storage interface, the Synapse Cache SSDs offer ultra-fast read and write speeds of up to 550 and 490 megabytes-per-second respectively, making the unit ideal for housing complex, data-intensive programs. Fairly lightweight at an average of 79 grams, the drives maintain low operations temperatures with minimal power consumption for low ecological emissions. The Cache Series comes with an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) rating of 2 million hours, and a 3-year parts and labor warranty for reliable use.
