LaCie 5big Storage Server

The 5big Storage Server is a file-sharing appliance, designed for small and medium-sized businesses. This model is a step-up from the 5big Backup Server, as this model includes dual Gigabit Ethernet connections and a dual-core processor.

Compared to LaCie’s 5big Network 2, this model supports Windows Storage Server 2008. The 5big Storage Server’s base model includes 5TB of storage, while a more expensive 10 GB edition is available at a premium price. LaCie recommends this device for 25 to 100 PC, Mac or Linux computers. This product supports Microsoft’s Active Directory technology, allowing for the use of SMB, AFP, NFS and iSCSI protocols. This device is powered by a dual-core 64-bit Intel Atom processor and 2GB of DDR2 memory for consistent performance. Expansion options include a single eSATA port, 3 USB 2.0 ports and one VGA out.
