LaCie 2big Network 2
$325.00
Released September, 2009
The Pros:Unit is sleek and very well-built - durable enough to sustain falling from a computer desk without damage to stored contents. Doesn't require a software driver/adware client - standalone functionality is preferable to competitors from Western Digital, which involves "Drive Manager" software. Drive removability is excellent switching out singular components - especially helpful for repairing damaged partitions and installing new ones.
The Cons:Printed manual is short and nondescript - most users will be required to seek further information online. Self-adjusting "Smart Fan" is fairly noisy - likely to frustrate users working off of the drive or spending a lot of time editing/organizing contents.
The LaCie 2big Network 2 is a 2-bay NAS, recommended for networks with up to 200 users. 2TB, 3TB and 4TB capacities are available as standard configurations, however users can swap out drives to meet changing needs.
