Hitachi Travelstar E5K160

The Hitachi Travelstar E5K160 is a 2.5” internal HDD designed for demanding data-access applications. It features a 5400RPM drive and an 8MB data buffer cache with a 512Mb transfer rate. In addition, the Travelstar E5K160 features excellent shock resistance, an improved electronics design that reduces power consumption to 10% below its industry-leading predecessor, and leveraged perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) to delivery superior technology & reliability.

In fact, the E5K160’s PMR head has been integrated with a new read channel and IrMnCr read heads. This allows the unit to function around-the-clock, while still handling numerous high-demand applications. The Hitachi Travelstar E5K160 retails in SATA or PATA interface with 60GB, 80GB, 120GB, and 160GB models. Prices range between $75 to $200.
