The Hitachi Travelstar 5K500.B is a 2.5” internal HDD designed for use in entertainment power-house notebooks, sleep desktop PCs, external storage devices, and other advanced mobile applications.

A slight upgrade from the Hitachi Travelstar 5K500, the Travelstar 5K500.B features a 5400RPM drive and an 8MB data buffer cache with a whopping 875Mb (versus 824Mb) data transfer rate needed for an enhanced entertainment experience. In addition, the Travelstar 5K500.B internal HDD is EcoTrac classified due to its halogen-free production. Plus, the 5K500.B features the industry’s first Iterative Detection Read Channel for improved signal processing, optional hard-drive-level encryption for increased data security, and enhanced availability models to deliver high-capacity storage for non-stop environments. The Hitachi Travelstar 5K500.B retails in a SATA 3Gb interface with 120GB, 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, 400GB, and 500GB models. Prices range between $250 to $400.
