The Cons:Can be a bit noisy.

Product Shot 2 Available capacities include 500GB, 750GB, 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB and the included interfaces are USB 2.0, two Firewire 800(Firewire 400 adapter cable included) and 3Gbit eSATA. The design is also 'safe' oriented as it is made of solid aluminum and has an internal cooling fan for heat dissipation, as well as having a security lock slot for locking the unit to a safe location. Since G-Tech drives are aimed at Macintosh users, it comes preformatted for the OS X platform and is plug and play compatible with Time Machine; it even looks like Mac G5 computers. Windows users may still use the G-SAFE after reformatting it to the NTFS file system.

This is slower than a RAID 0 formation and only one drive can be accessed but for situations where file security is most important it is beneficial. Since they are removable it is possible to buy a replacement drive, however the unit is only compatible with drives made by G-Tech. A front panel ambient blue LED display with function controls is capable of displaying drive status including temperature information for each drive, even emitting an alarm signal should there be a problem.
