Cavalry CASD-P2 Pelican Elite Series
$640.00
Released April, 2009
The Pros:250MB/s and 200MB/s Read/Write. 15000G's Ultra-shock resistance. 0°C to 70°C operational temp.
The Cons:No USB like the Pelican and Eagle series.
The Cavalry CASD-P2 Pelican Elite Series is the top of the line internal SSD drive from Cavalry which comes with a SATA II interface. Read and write speeds of 250MB/s and 200MB/s respectively can be achieved which suggest a faster SLC (single-level cell) as opposed to an MLC (multi-level cell) design, although the company has not specified which is used.

Unlike the Pelican and Eagle series which also have a USB 2.0 port for external operation, the Pelican Elite only has SATA II, but is made up for in it's speed and greater available capacity of up to 256GB. Other features common to the whole CASD line are shock resistance to a whopping 15000G's, operating temperature of between 0°C and 70°C and protective metal casing. SSD drives are a quickly growing industry because unlike conventional HDD drives they have no moving parts, which dramatically improves reliability and lifespan and requires significantly less power to operate.
