Using an existing ethernet connection, users can wirelessly access the unit from all internet devices across a single home network with both Mac and PC support for true versatility. Native RAID 0 and RAID 1 support enables automatic mirroring for improved file safety, also helping to maximize free space through redundant data removal. Apple iDevice (iPod, iPhone, iPad) users can connect to the LS-WXL/R1 via Buffalo's own WebAccess service, with a variety of free applications available for browsing and selecting different content types. DLNA certification provides further streaming options, offering iTunes integration alongside a host of other compatible media players. Users wishing to backup or restore the contents of their PC can do so with the help of NOVABackup Professional, with native Time Machine available for Mac owners. BitTorrent compatibility helps to preserve limited hardware space by downloading and storing files directly to the LinkStation Duo, implementing uTorrent client software for standalone operations. In addition, USB 2.0 connectivity is included for further storage options and can be used as a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) in case of emergency.
