This drive is not capable of writing to recordable HD DVD discs, but can read them at 2.4X speed. The ASUS HR-0205T is also capable of writing single or dual layer DVDs, with a max speed of 5X for DVD±R, 5X for DVD ±RW and 5X for DVD±R DL. CD-Rs and CD-RWs can be read and written at 15X. This HD DVD drive can be mounted in a PC horizontally or vertically. It is also fully supported by Windows XP/2000/ Vista, making it useable by a wide variety of consumers. Compared to the majority of competing Blu-ray Disc drives, this drive features faster disc access times by approximately 200 MS: 155 MS for HD DVD, 140 MS for DVD and 130 MS for CD.
